TRIDENT

Terms of Service

What you can expect from Trident, and what we expect from you. Written to describe how the product actually works rather than to cover every theoretical case.

Last updated 15 September 2026 · Trident, Pune, India

Draft for review. This describes the current service accurately, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have it checked before you take money, partner with cafés, or scale beyond early users — particularly the liability and content-licence sections, which are the ones that matter if something goes wrong.

What Trident is

Trident helps you find cafés, places to stay and places to see in Pune, by the things that decide whether a day works — how quiet a café is, whether a stay felt safe, whether a fort was worth the trip — using reviews from people who went. It is free to use, on the web and as an Android app.

We are not affiliated with any café listed. Listing a café is not an endorsement, a partnership, or a paid placement, and no café has paid to appear or to rank higher.

Your account

You can browse, search and use the map without an account. An account is needed to write reviews, because a review is public and changes a number other people rely on.

Reviews and community guidelines

Reviews are public. Each one is shown with the display name you chose — never your email address — on the place you reviewed and on your public profile. You agree to these guidelines before your first review. Review honestly, from your own visit, and do not:

Anyone signed in can report a review. A review reported by several people is hidden while we look at it, and we remove reviews that break these guidelines and suspend accounts that break them repeatedly. You can block another person, and their reviews will no longer appear for you.

How the Trident Score works

The Trident Score is the average of the reviews people have written on Trident, shown out of 10. It appears once four people have reviewed a place; until then the place reads "New", which means it has not been reviewed enough yet — not that it is bad. Nobody, including us, adjusts it by hand, and no business can pay to change it.

Google and Foursquare ratings, where shown, are labelled as theirs and are not inputs to the Trident Score.

What you write stays yours

Reviews you write remain yours. By posting one you give us permission to display it publicly within Trident, with your display name, and to include it in the Trident Score. We will not sell your content, and we will not use it in advertising without asking you first.

You can edit or delete any review you have written, at any time, in the app.

Where the café information comes from

Café and stay details can be wrong or out of date. Opening hours, prices and whether a place still exists all come from third-party data that we do not control and cannot continuously verify. Check before you travel, especially for anything that matters — a long journey, a booking, or a meeting.

Stays

Hostels, PGs and guest houses are listings from OpenStreetMap, shown so you can find where they are and how to reach them. We do not hold rents, deposits, room availability or terms for any of them, we are not an agent or a broker, and we take no commission from anyone. Arrangements you make are between you and the place.

Itineraries

The planner arranges cafés already listed on Trident into an order you can walk. The spend figures beside each stop are estimates derived from that café's price level — they are not menu prices, not quotes, and not guaranteed. Opening hours are only shown where a café records them. Confirm anything you are relying on.

What we do not promise

Trident is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption, that café information is accurate, or that a café will suit you because its score is high.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using Trident — a wasted trip, a café that turned out to be closed, or a room that was louder than its score suggested. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Using it fairly

Please do not:

We rate-limit requests to keep the service usable for everyone. If you want the data for research or something non-commercial, email us — the answer is usually yes.

Ending things

You can stop using Trident whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and we will tell you why unless doing so would help someone abuse the service.

Changes

If these terms change materially, the date at the top changes and account holders are told by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Trident after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes fall to the courts of Pune, Maharashtra.
